Merriman’s Restaurant – Maui, Hawaii Wedding – {Brian + Bryanna}

2013-05-10_0033When I see Maui in my inbox, my heart flutters.  I love it there. I feel at home there. I’m so fortunate to be there. I was especially excited when Bry told me she and Brian were getting married – I have known Bry for many years – since high school!  Thanks to Facebook we reconnected.  It was a gorgeous day on the island, and even when it started to sprinkle as Bry walked down the aisle – nothing could wipe that beautiful smile off her face! I think she would have married Brian amid a tornado!  She has the most infectious smile and laugh that I’ve seen!  The night ended with an intimate dinner at Merriman’s.

Lahaina Plantation House Wedding, Maui, Hawaii – {Nathan + Robin}

Maui_lahaina_plantation_house_wedding_01
I’m still playing catch up with blogs and am so stoked to share this wedding on Robin + Nathan!  One part of the day I remember well was how warm it was!  Robin totally rocked it our in her super heavy dress – and didn’t complain at all!  She was too busy taking in and enjoying every moment of the day.  Another highlight for me was watching Cherise from The Perfect Maui Wedding‘s daughters dance a beautiful hula!   Oh and the fact I wanted to steal Robin’s adorable Nine West heels!

Oh and I feel compelled to add…Canadians are seriously the nicest most apologetic group I’ve ever met.  ;-)

Merrimans of Kapalua, Maui, HI – {Steve + Carolyn}

It’s rare when I get to meet my destination brides prior to their wedding. I was excited to hear Carolyn & Steve were from San Diego! We got to do their engagement session here which is always awesome to get to know one another. Thanks to the wonders of Facebook, we found out that Carolyn is actually high school buddies with my distant cousin. Such a small world!  Their wedding was held at Merriman’s in Kapalua, which was the first time I had been there.  What a great location!  I am excited to be shooting there again this coming July.  I had so much fun with Steve & Carolyn, they make each other laugh constantly and are so happy together.

My Best Friend’s Wedding!

The blog has been a little quiet lately…mostly because I’ve been traveling all over the country! Three time zones in one week and my body officially is confused.  Jason and I headed to Chicago last Thursday to celebrate my best friend Nichole and her new husband Mitch at their wedding!  It was an awesome (mostly) camera-free weekend!  When the photographers showed up to the wedding I put the camera away and tried to become a non-meddling bridesmaid.  It was hard, I will admit! :) I’m excited to see what they created though!

   The following Sunday we were off to Maui to shoot two beautiful tropical destination weddings and two trash the dress shoots.  Thursday we were back on the plane to San Diego.  Friday was my good friends 10 year vow renewal and then my last 2011 wedding on Saturday!  It was a long tiring week but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything!

Just because blogs are so much better with photos…

Tami and Adam – Maui, Hawaii Wedding Photography {Getting Ready and Portraits}

This is going to be a tough blog to write!  I was trying to narrow down images and there was no possible way I could!  So this is going to be a 3 parter.  Starting with Getting Ready and Portraits.  The next blog will be Ceremony and Reception and the final blog will be their awesome trash the dress session we did a few days prior.

I had never met Tami.  I knew what she looked like and her sense of humor only through our Facebook friendship.  But from the second we were both in Hawaii, we were more like friends. No, scratch that, she made me feel like family.  And her actual family and friends (Adam’s too) were so welcoming and warm.  I can truly say my heart was full when I left Maui.

But I’ll leave their story to the photos…I’m much better behind the lens than writing my feelings!

The wedding was at a Private Residence in Maui called Lahaina Oceanfront Estate.  The amazing decor and florals were done by Della with Dellables.  She was a total sweetheart and I could tell she absolutely loved what she does!  The coordinator Cherise was so helpful the day of (and to Tami throughout the planning)!

The super fun Jessica rocked all of the girls makeup!  Dan was also awesome and did a wonderful job on their hair!

You can’t see their tank tops but they each had a:  “Team Melissa” “Team Cherise” and “Team Della” tank!  SO adorable (I posted it on my facebook if we are friends there! If we aren’t – add me!)

They felt the first look was the best opportunity for more time together, so we chose the private beach as the location

Adam thinks I’m funny :)

Stunning Tami. Just stunning.

I can hardly wait to show you the next two blogs!  What do you think so far?

xo, M
