Brenna Turns One!

Shannon, Victor and Brenna are moving to the East Coast!  They wanted some proof that baby Brenna had lived by the Pacific Ocean so they asked me to take photos for her first birthday!  I shot Shannon’s maternity photos last year.

Brianna’s Day at Disneyland

I’ve been staring blankly at my screen unsure of how to start this blog. Brianna’s father, Jeremy encouraged me to share as much about Brianna and her terminal illness as I am comfortable with. I want to start off with talking about Neimann-Pick Disease. Brianna has Type C. Please click here for a basic overview of this fatal disease or click here to read about the Foundation and to donate to the cause.  Jeremy is all too familiar with this disease, he lost his oldest daughter Bailey a few years ago to the same thing.

Jeremy and Brianna have an amazing relationship.  Being in a room with them for 5 minutes will show you that this little girl is his universe.  I hope to have captured their relationship in these photos.

My good friends Jodi and Adam are old friends of Jeremy’s.  Jeremy saw some photographs I took that are hung in their home and really liked them.  When these two families planned Brianna’s last trip to Disneyland, Jodi knew that she wanted to bring me along to document the day and surprise Jeremy.

After the Disneyland trip, I got an email from Jeremy. The last line said this: “I don’t know how to thank you for taking the time out of your day to do something special for us.  All I can say is that you have made an impact on both of our lives that will never be forgotten.” And isn’t that what life is all about?

But guess what?  Brianna and Jeremy made an impact on my life too.  I hope you can see that in these photos.

Mickey and Minnie came by to visit the girls, Brianna in the middle and Riyen (Jodi and Adam’s daughter) on the left.

And of course, Riyen, who could be called a “regular” on my blog by now!

These next two images are some of my favorites of the day.  I couldn’t decide which one I liked better, so I posted both!

The Reed Family

It was so fun to see Kim, John, Holland and Mia again! I haven’t seen this family since Kim and Jon got married in 2007!  You can see their wedding blog post here.  They recently moved to San Diego from England and wanted to get some updated shots of the kiddos!  Holland has gotten much taller, but it’s Mia that has changed the most since I saw her last!

The Dvorak Family!

You gotta love Facebook!  I started a Facebook group for my Sorority at my College.   From that, I found a few connections..one being Lisa!  Turns out she was a Senior when I was a Freshman and we both moved from San Diego to go to college in Illinois!  We don’t have memories of each other from our College days, but thought it was such a cool coincidence!

Fast forward almost 10 years from then…

Lisa and Curt are married and have the most adorable son Jake and dog, Guvu (my apologies if I spelled that wrong!)  We met at Old Poway Park for some Christmas photos of the family!

The Borgo Family

It’s such an honor when another photographer asks you to take their photos!  But then, it becomes so nerve-wracking, wondering if they will love them and if they will pick apart your exposure, angle, etc.  But Sylvia is great, always complimentary and sweet.
She a local family and children portrait photographer in town, check out her site! Her family is great too!  She really is Superwoman in this family of mostly men!

My personal fav from the day!

It was such a pleasure shooting you and your family, Sylvia! Thank you for trusting me!
