Lake Tahoe Wedding, Cal Neva Resort – {Trevor + Erica}

This wedding is way overdue for the blog – these two were married a year ago this month!  Erica is a wedding photographer in NorCal who contacted me years and years ago on Myspace.  She told me someday (when she finds the groom) that I will be her wedding photographer.  Well, she found her soulmate and kept her promise to me!

It was a crazy weekend…the night before Jason and I were set to fly out – the power went out in San Diego!  I was so freaked they would cancel our flight the next morning that we drove up to Tahoe at 10pm that night!  It was a crazy but fun road trip and I’m really glad it ended up being that way.

But back to the wedding…Erica and Trevor chose the funky Cal Neva Resort on the state line for their location.  Some cool facts about this place: It was once owned by Frank Sinatra, it still has underground tunnels that they used to run alcohol to the bar during Prohibition and the Reception room + pool are on the state line – so technically in two states!

It was a gorgeous day, it even rained a tiny bit during the ceremony!  But Erica didn’t care about that – she was just thrilled to marry the man she loves in the wedding of her dreams!

Coronado Marriage Proposal – {Jeremy + Dennis}

Jeremy planned out every single detail.  He was so excited to propose to the love of his life and it came through in every email.  J+D came to visit San Diego (their favorite place ever) from Arizona for vacation that coincided with our local Pride Parade.  Jeremy and I planned for the proposal to go down on Friday evening on the beach near the Hotel Del.  Dennis was so surprised, he had no clue.  I couldn’t have done my part without my awesome assistants, Ryan & Alison (of Alison Howard Events).  Thank you both so much!

After the surprise, we headed off for a mini-engagement session!  Can’t wait for their wedding next year in New York!

San Diego Botanic Garden, Encintas Wedding – {Howard + Tracy}

I loved getting to know Howard and Tracy in the time leading up to their wedding!  Tracy created so many details for this wedding herself. I love her fun and quirky choice of shoes and the flowers she and the bridesmaids put together turned out gorgeous!  Even their honest and heartfelt vow made me tear up a little!

42 Years Ago…

my parents stood in my grandparent’s backyard in front of their friends and family and vowed til death did them part and all that mushy stuff.

The photos on the left were taken on that day in 1970.  Photo on the right was taken by me this past June.

Still in love <3  Happy Anniversary to my wonderful parents!

Irish American Heritage Center Wedding – Chicago, IL – {Evan + Grace}

Evan + Grace’s Chicago wedding was so fun and unique!  Just like the two of them!  Evan is a rad photographer and Grace is a former roller derby girl!  Grace and I were friends in College when we worked on the newspaper together for years.  I was stoked when she thought of me for her wedding!  I flew out to Chicago for their Cinco de Mayo wedding with the threat of rainstorms all weekend.  The weather-people were not incorrect!  A few rain dances later and we luckily had gorgeous overcast weather their entire wedding day!

Their first look was so expressive, I couldn’t narrow down which images to include!  They were the first bride & groom I’ve ever heard of that wanted their photos on The “El” and on the lawn of an awesome birdhouse house!  They were totally up for anything and I love that.  Another first:  The Jurassic Park theme song for the father/daughter dance.  Rad rad rad.  Enjoy the image overload!
